In most states, a majority of employers who employ more than four employees are required to have Workers Compensation Insurance. Most organizations have liability loss exposure relating to occupational injuries and illness of their employees. However, Employee Liability Exposure is NOT include in Commercial General liability policies.

New York is one of the many states that requires employers to provide Disability Benefits Coverage to employees for an OFF-THE-JOB INJURY or ILLNESS. There are two main types of Disability Insurance:

Short-Term (STD) and Long Term (LTD). STD typically has a short waiting period which is roughly about two weeks after you become disabled and before benefits are paid. LTD typically has a waiting period which is roughly about 90 days after the disability and before benefits are paid.
